HBS – Host Broadcast Services – which devises, designs and delivers coverage for all FIFA events, including every World Cup tournament since 2002.
HBS has engaged Input Media to produce the EBIF – Extended Basic International Feed – around each and every match at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The EBIF is essentially an editorially driven, live-match wrapper that sets the scene for each match. It includes an hour-long build-up to kick-off, highlights and analysis at half-time, and all the reaction at full-time. The aim is to provide rights-holders with a comprehensive, unbroken programme to wrap around the live match coverage.
Building on our successful support to HBS at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Input Media supplied two production teams for the project. Both worked in tandem from the World Cup IBC (International Broadcast Centre) to accommodate three or sometimes four matches a day. Our producers liaised closely with feature content providers and the field producers in the stadiums to create top-quality EBIF programming that told the whole story of each World Cup match.
Our EBIF programming ensured FIFA’s rights-holders got the full story. Building towards kick-off with editorial features, interviews and colour material to set the scene, then delivering all the reaction, analysis and implications of the result at the final whistle, we ensured the full narrative of each match was professionally and stylishly told. Input Media’s producers delivered EBIF programming around all 64 matches in Russia, from the opening match to the final – programming watched by billions of viewers around the world.
